Your First Appointment: What to Expect
Mayo Family Dentistry is a comprehensive family dental practice that offers many services. Patients should expect their first visit, in which they will be seen and treated by a dentist, to last approximately one hour.
If a patient has an emergency or is experiencing discomfort, our office will address the immediate need on that particular day. We are pleased to offer same-day emergency treatment.
New patients without urgent dental needs will undergo a comprehensive exam which will include an oral cancer screening, periodontal exam, orthodontic evaluation, restorative evaluation, bite-wing X-rays, and a Panorex X-ray. We strongly encourage patients to bring all of their dental records, including X-rays, to their first appointment.
After the comprehensive exam with the dentist, we’ll discuss with you our recommendations and present a custom treatment plan designed expressly for you. If additional appointments are required, our staff will be happy to make any scheduling or financial arrangements to facilitate your treatment.
Insurance Policy
We are participating providers with Delta Dental, Cigna and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurances, and as a courtesy to you, our staff will file your insurance claims. We will make every effort to accurately estimate patient costs prior to treatment. We will also wait up to 90 days to hear from your insurance company, at which time it will be your responsibility to clear your account in full.
Many patients are unaware of their out of network benefits. We encourage questions regarding dental insurance, so please call our office to discuss the specifics of your plan. Often patients can receive high quality care from an out of network provider without a large expense. Dental insurance can be complicated and frustrating, but our trained staff will be happy to explain your policy.
Financing Options
Patients are fully responsible for charges incurred at our office, and payment is due at the time of treatment. We accept Visa, MasterCard, checks, and cash.
For delayed payment options, we accept CareCredit. A leader in medical treatment financing, CareCredit has helped more than three million patients finance treatment. The company offers a comprehensive range of plans for financing treatment fees from $1 to over $25,000, and they offer low monthly payments to fit comfortably into almost any budget. With CareCredit, you can finance 100 percent of your dental care with no upfront costs, annual fees, or pre-payment penalties.
As a courtesy, our staff will file insurance claims for patients and wait up to ninety days for payment from an insurance company. After ninety days, if insurance does not pay, responsibility falls to the patient. We are participating providers with Delta Dental, Cigna and Anthem Insurance.
Our time is very valuable, as is yours. Please call the office twenty-four hours in advance to reschedule an appointment. A $75.00 fee will be charged to your account for missed appointments or reschedules with less than twenty-four hours’ notice.
